In the case of continuous graduation, it is likely that cooperative behavior is addressed toward all those who are tolerably similar.
The authors consider a number of different, more or less ephemeral forms of joint agency and collective experiences (ad hoc, planned, and longer-term, coordinated joint actions), and show how we-narratives not only reflect the structure of the respective dyads or groups and build the typical representation format for a retrospective attribution of shared intentionality and agency; they also argue that we-narratives indeed underpin prospective joint intention formation and practical deliberation. Moreover, Gallagher and Tollefsen demonstrate how we-narratives play key roles in the formation of a robust group identity and thus contribute to groups’ stability over time, beyond discrete collective actions and experiences and across changing individual membership. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11245-019-09641-w
Self-construal refers to how individuals define and make meaning of the self in relation to others. In their seminal work, Markus and Kitayama identified two such self-construals: independent and interdependent. The independent self-construal (IndSC) is characterized by separateness and individuation from others. Demonstrating uniqueness is an important basis of self-esteem. Being "the same person" across situations and communicating assertively are signs of maturity. Social comparison confirms one's uniqueness and internal traits. In contrast, the interdependent self-construal (InterSC) is characterized by the ways in which one is connected to others. Fitting into the group is also an important basis of self-esteem. Changing behavior in response to different situations and regulating emotional expression to maintain group harmony are signs of maturity. The individual strives to subordinate personal goals in order to benefit the group.
Evolutionary biologists hypothesize that species that cooperate rather than compete value sameness, which has led to right-hand dominance. Lefties constitute just 10% of the normal population; yet they make up 50% of elite athletes. https://www.factretriever.com/evolution-facts https://steemit.com/science/@imjhon/1-facts-of-evoluction-33-facts https://aphilomathsjournal.wordpress.com/category/the-mysterious-universe/
